In the annual Eveready Cares initiative, Eveready employees once again showed their generosity and their commitment to making a difference in their communities.
All departments within Eveready joined together to choose a charity to support during the campaign. This gave employees from across the business an opportunity to meet and discuss the needs of their communities. As a team, they then visited the charities and spent time understanding their objectives and requirements. This personal connection to the charities meant a great deal to the employees and the reality of making an impact in someone’s daily life was life changing.
The charities chosen were: Missionvale Care Centre, Vistarus Mission Station, Helping Hands, The Bongweni Society, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Sine Themba Children’s Care Centre and Isithembiso Babies Home.
The needs were communicated to all employees who then rallied and donated all kinds of goods such as non-perishable foods, clothing, blankets, toys, baby toiletries and even a bicycle or two. Eveready of course donated boxes of batteries.
Running for three weeks the campaign culminated in an auction. Over R5,000 was raised and divided between the charities. The handover of goods was marked with great excitement and emotion. Eveready HR Director, Charles du Toit commented: “the success of our Eveready Cares project is a reflection of the special people who work at Eveready.”
The campaign was a great success and the employees are committed to continuing their support to their charities during 2012.
