Understatement of the Year; “SOEs remain under pressure”

Rainbow Warrior St Francis

Editor: As you read this think on the following: We purchase goods and services from these SOEs, these SOEs were set up with our tax money, these SOEs have nevermore a consistent profit year in and year out, it is OUR tax money that continues to support them. Maybe the time has come to rethink our national model and get rid of these drains on our finances! State-owned entities (SOEs) are under significant pressure and there is doubt about whether some of them can continue with their operations in future without financial assistance. This is according to the Auditor General, Kimi …

@BobaniMayor Continues to ignore NMB drought crisis

Letters to the Editor

Dear MyPE Executive Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Cllr Mongameli Bobani, is out of touch with reality and does not care about the well-being of residents. This is highlighted by the fact that he has still not signed off on the drought declaration for Nelson Mandela Bay. Taps have been running dry across the metro and last week’s rainfall has had little effect on the dams supplying water to the city. During last week’s municipal oversight inspection at the Impofu dam, the largest supply dam to the Metro, mayoral committee member for infrastructure and engineering, Cllr …
