The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality advised residents to cut down to 50 liters of water per person per day as water supply reached a critical point with extraction at the Impofu Dam stopped due to prevailing drought conditions. The Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) has begun an eviction process of 45 tenants through an order of the court at its Butterworth residential and industrial properties. These 45 tenants owe the ECDC a combined R40 million in arrear rentals. The group of 45 forms part of 173 tenants who have been handed over to ECDC attorneys to undergo the eviction process. King Zwelonke Sigcawu had been king of the amaXhosa since the death of his father, King Xolilizwe Sigcawu, in 2005, and was declared the legitimate king of all amaXhosa in 2010.
