No More begging for Toilet Paper

MyPE Logo

Dear MyPE The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Eastern Cape has scored a victory in defence of the basic human rights of all students attending the TVET College in Port Elizabeth. I led members of the Democratic Alliance Student Organization (DASO) in a peaceful march to demand that the management ensure toilet paper is, on a daily basis, available in the bathrooms of all three campuses. It has been an ongoing struggle for students as toilet paper would run out within the first week of the month. Thereafter it would not be replaced. General sanitation is also a problem, as many of the …

Jacob Zuma

When #DayZuma is not really #DayZuma

Jacob Zuma

Dear MyPE The Democratic Alliance (DA) notes the decision by the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to recall Jacob Zuma. This recall is an internal ANC resolution, and nothing more. It has no effect on Jacob Zuma’s current status as President of the Republic, and can be simply ignored by Zuma. Unless he tenders his resignation, this recall is not worth the paper it is printed on. The fact is, Jacob Zuma remains President, and remains in power. And as long as this is the case, our country suffers. The only way to remove Jacob Zuma as President of our country is for Parliament to …

MyPE Logo

Dear MyPE The DA welcomes the announcement today that the water crisis, affecting the Western Cape, Northern Cape and the Eastern Cape, has been declared a national disaster. The department must now immediately release drought-relief funds to these affected provinces to ensure that these provinces can effectively fight this drought. This means that the Western Cape which was previously classified as a provincial disaster has now been re-classified a national disaster, following the on-going crippling drought in the province. The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional …

Help your customers understand why workplace noise affects productivity and profitability. And how they can fix it.: Plantronics EncorePro Headsets Photo: Plantronics stock Johannesburg, South Africa –February 2018 4% of employees agree blocking out noise increases their productivity.(1) Today, work happens everywhere — in busy open-plan offices and contact centers, at home, even coffee shops. Third Avenue Dip, Newton Park Early Warning System Launched

John Best

https://youtu.be/B3w7LxesDrA Flashing lights to indicate the closure of the low-level bridge in Third Avenue Avenue, Newton Park during flooding was launched today. Member of the Mayoral Committee for Safety and Security, Cllr John Best, said the lights – that will be operated remotely from the South End Fire Station control room – will ultimately lessen inconvenience to motorists as the road can be reopened quicker and improve road safety. “The boom gates erected by the Infrastructure and Engineering Department in 2010 are not effective. Whilst one of Algoa FM’s recent on air appointments moves into weekdays, another joins the station for the very first time. Now in addition to hosting on Sundays, she will be on air between five and six in the morning, on weekdays. “Siobhan’s personality has a feel-good-vibe to it, which is exactly what our early …

Chatty Parents up in arms

Letters to the Editor

Dear MyPE Parents in Chatty in Port Elizabeth have resorted to presenting a memorandum to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality after repeated applications for scholar transport from the Eastern Cape Department of Transport have fallen on deaf ears. The scholars attend Sapphire Road Primary, Cederburg Primary and Booysen Park Primary. Learners often have to walk more than six kilometres to school, seriously affecting their attendance and ultimately increasing the dropout rate. I welcome the memorandum that was sent to the NMBM by the parents for assistance in this matter. The memorandum …
