Langenhoven Drive Oncology Centre – Illegal Parking

MyPE Logo

Dear Alan, I am writing to you about the 'parking problem' outside the Langenhoven Drive Oncology Centre, which is situated on the corner of CJ Langenhoven Drive and Mangold Street, Newton Park. While there is a large parking area available behind the hospital, people see fit to park in Mangold Street in front of the hospital. They do so, without any regard for other road users. To exacerbate the problem, they park directly opposite the entrance to the office complex across the road. It is also very close to the intersection with CJ Langenhoven Drive. This means that drivers have to …

Electricity consumers to pay additional R10 Billion

The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber is extremely disappointed with the increase awarded to Eskom, as it constitutes once again an unaffordable hike for businesses operating in Nelson Mandela Bay. This comes as the National Energy Regulator (NERSA) announced today that in analysis of Eskom's Regulatory Clearing Account (RCA) application for the first year of the third Multi-Year Price Determination (MYPD3) (2013/14), electricity tariffs will be increased by 9.4% for the 2016/17 financial year. Business Chamber Member Company Autocast's Executive Director David Mertens said the …

IPTS litigation confirms rampant corruption in NMB

Letters to the Editor

Dear MyPE The decision to sue eight of the NMB Metro's current and former bosses, and businessmen, is indeed confirmation of the rampant corruption within this ANC government in NMB. The very fact that some of those in the firing line still occupy municipal offices is proof of the expanding and ongoing rot in Nelson Mandela Bay. Court cases suing people for money that was wasted and misappropriated years ago, will not get a single bus on NMB's streets right away. People will remain further from jobs, further from opportunities, and further from an integrated Nelson Mandela Bay …

9.4% Eskom hike will have consequences

MyPE Logo

The risk of load shedding could increase as a result of energy regulator Nersa's decision to only give Eskom half of its required tariff increase on Tuesday. Eskom CEO Brian Molefe said the decision to only approve a 9.4% electricity price increase doesn't help Eskom's financial sustainability and "will have operational consequences". "We will do our best to minimise the risk of load shedding, striking a balance with Eskom's already depleted balance sheet," he said in a statement. "We note with concern the decision on open cycle gas turbines (OCGTs), which will guide Eskom's …

The public of Nelson Mandela Bay will have the opportunity to have their say on the future of the old Telkom Park stadium at a public meeting on Wednesday evening, 2 March 2016.
