Open letter to Dr Danny Jordaan on 2010 Bribery Allegations

Dear Dr Jordaan, The integrity of Nelson Mandela Bay, its government and its reputation, demands that you immediately lift the veil on allegations of the $10 million bribe paid for the 2010 World Cup, under your leadership of the Bid Committee. You personally oversaw and led an organisation that is now irrefutably implicated in a major international bribery probe. It is confirmed on record, under oath in US Court papers. These are allegations of serious impropriety on your watch as Bid committee head. These allegations have the ability to tarnish the image and reputation of our …

Six effective steps to help curb unemployment

MyPE Logo

Earlier this year, Business Day put the spotlight on the gravity of South Africa’s unemployment problem. It’s worse than it seems… You see, South Africa’s unemployment rate is about the same as Greece’s, at around 25%. And, if you cast your mind back a little, you’ll remember Greece ran the risk of being expelled from the EU because of its financial woes. The truth is, Greece clocked this 25% unemployment rate after six long years of recession. South Africa’s clocking that same rate following five years of economic growth. “But Europe’s in a completely different league,” you may be …

What to look for in a bank account

Eunice Sibiya

Important and precious things in life should be well looked after and put to good use. Your money is no different and your bank account is key to the way you manage your money. When considering an account it is important to look at your banking needs so it doesn't end up costing you more in the long run or result in you missing out on important valuable services. "Choosing a bank account, or switching accounts, may seem daunting but just opting for the simplest account when faced with many alternatives in the market is not necessarily the best or most cost effective route," says Eunice …

Letters to the Editor

Dear MyPE The Democratic Alliance will be contesting the ward 1 by-election in Makana Municipality on the 22nd of July. Makana Municipality requires responsive leadership, hard work and quality services to get it back on track. The DA believes we can bring freedom fairness and opportunity to the residents of a forgotten ward in a dysfunctional municipality. Mayor, Zamuxolo Peter, has presided over the collapse of the Makana municipality since 2011 with Ward 1 being among the hardest hit communities. Riebeek East, the largest town in ward 1, is the home of the Mayor and is …
