New wage structure for domestic workers

Labour Minister Mildred Oliphant has approved the new wage structure for the domestic workers' sector following the upward adjustment of the minimum wage. The latest relief comes on the eve of the festive season. The minimum wage adjustment is in line with the legislation to protect workers in South Africa in sectors in which they are likely to be exploited, or where worker organisations and trade unions are absent and workers are not covered by regulating mechanisms. The new sectoral determination of domestic workers, starting from 1 December 2014 to 30 November 2015, prescribes the …

R9.3 Billion profit for ………… Eskom

Eskom on Tuesday reported a profit of R9.3 billion for the six months ended on 30 September 2014. This is down 24% from R12.2 billion for the same period the previous year. "While Eskom reported a profit of R9.3 billion in the first half of its financial year, these profits are expected to decline to R0.5 billion for the full financial year. "This is because traditionally, revenue in winter is much higher than during summer due to time-of-use tariffs to key industrial customers and there is less maintenance performed on Eskom power plants, which contributes to the profitability of the …

Power supply expected to be ‘tight’

South Africa’s power system is expected to be tight for the next few days, says Eskom. “The system is expected to be very tight over the evening peaks for the next few days. However, the risk of load shedding is medium to low. This is owing to steady progress made in building reserves over the weekend to limit the risk of load shedding this week,” said the power utility in its system status bulletin on Monday. Your choice – Read about Ubuntu or Trash

South Africans are an inspiring and inquisitive lot - we represent so many different cultures and yet seldom exercise our natural loving curiosity to explore those cultures. Personally I cannot believe that the Facebook page of Smanga is genuine …
