Water Treatment Works upgrades to accommodate greater demand

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is currently implementing refurbishments and upgrades at five water treatment works and aims to ultimately upgrade all eight facilities providing drinking water to Nelson Mandela Bay to the tune of more than R 1 billion. This follows after the demand for potable water from the population of 1,1 million residents consistently increased at approximately 6% over the last couple of years. NMMU honours students awarded Mandela Rhodes Scholarships

Two Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) honours students were awarded Mandela Rhodes Scholarships making them part of the tenth cohort of Mandela Rhodes scholars. They are Chemistry honours student Sendi Gandidzanwa, of Zimbabwe, and Psychology honours student Curwyn Mapaling, of Uitenhage. In a celebration of five years of top scholarships at NMMU, the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University Vice-Chancellor Prof Derrick Swartz challenged the university's top-achieving students, at a breakfast on 30 October by asking; "How will you use your knowledge to make the world a better place?" Redhouse celebrates 110 years of sailing

On Sunday 2 November the Redhouse Yacht Club hosted a number of ex-commodores at a luncheon to celebrate RYC's 110 year anniversary. No load-shedding is anticipated for today, power utility Eskom said on Monday. “Eskom is not load shedding today and does not anticipate that there will be any load shedding tomorrow as additional units have been returned from maintenance,” it said in a statement. This as the country experienced rolling blackouts at the weekend after one of the silos at the Majuba power station in Mpumalanga cracked and later collapsed on Saturday.
